The capital of Finland, Helsinki invites young talented dancers from all over the world to participate in the sixth Helsinki International Ballet Competition to be held from 2nd to 11th June 2009.

The Helsinki International Ballet Competition belongs to the cycle of International Ballet Competitions held under the auspices of the International Theatre Institute ITI (UNESCO) in Jackson, Moscow, New York and Varna.

The Competition will be organised by the Helsinki International Ballet Competition Association in cooperation with the Finnish National Opera. The Competition will be held at the Opera House in Helsinki, Finland.

The competition is arranged under the patronage of President of the Republic of Finland Tarja Halonen.
