Helsinki International Ballet Competition

National Opera

For the fourth time the Finnish National Opera House is hosting the Helsinki International Ballet Competition. The first round and semi-finals will be seen in the Almi Hall and the finals on the Main Stage.

The Finnish National Opera House offers ideal facilitates for the competition and its international participants. Both the staff of the house and the Organising Committee were praised by the participants of the competition 2005 where overall 36 countries were represented.

Located on the banks of Töölönlahti Bay, Finland’s modern opera house is itself a stunning building. Completed in the early 1990s, the opera house has hosted scores of opera, ballet and contemporary dance performances. Guided tours of the building and backstage areas are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2.30pm and take approximately one hour.
